NYS Trout Unlimited Trout Waters Camp

From our friends at NYS TU...

The Fly-Fishing Summer Camp will start on Sunday June 28th thru Friday July 3rd this year. This is a full week of camp with lots of fly fishing instruction and fishing on the Delaware River. The youth will learn fly tying, knot tying, conservation & entomology.

We have exciting news; we have found a new location for our NY TU Trout Waters summer youth camp this year.  We have secured Camp Amahami, 434 Page Pond Road, Deposit NY 13754. This facility is a girl scout camp that has lodging for our campers on a lake.  It’s near Oquaga Creek, and it takes about 15 minutes to get to Deposit NY from the camp. It has lake waterfront for fishing along with lodges for dining, sleeping and fly tying for our teens. We are still working out all the details and plans for the camp.

Campers Needed: We are looking for teens ages 14-17 to join us this summer at TU Trout Waters Camp.  We plan to accept ~16 youth again this year. Chapters can start to recruit youth from their chapters. The cost this year will be $850 per student, which includes food, lodging, and transportation for the week.  We are excited for chapters who can afford it to sponsor a youth!  If you can’t find a youth, please consider a donation to help offset costs for our camp. (Camp donation questions please contact Tom LoProto our NYS Council Treasurer, tlopoto@aol.com)

Our new Camp Director, Bob Lindquist is on board this year.  A big Thank you to Mike & Kim Walchko as they stepped down from over 20 years of service to our trout waters camp.

If you have any further questions about NY Trout Waters Camp, feel free to reach out to Bob Lindquist, jcnflies@charter.net or 631-790-5326 or Bob Mead at ramead@gmail.com or 607-727-9500

I've attached the Camp poster & Camp application form below!  Please be sure to share this on your chapter social media, let's get the word out!

Fishing Buddies Needed: We will continue to have one on one fishing each evening on the West Branch of the Delaware River. We need 12-15 Fishing Buddies each evening on Monday June 29th, Tuesday June 30th, Wednesday July 1st and Thursday July 2nd.  The Fishing locations change every night and generally center near the Hale Eddy area on the West Branch of the Delaware River. Being a fishing Buddy can be one of the best ways for you to impact the future of the sport of fly fishing and will probably become one of the most enjoyable days you will have on the water this year.

Fishing Buddies Volunteers need to be able to:

                         i. Be at the fishing location by 5:30pm

ii. Have waders on and ready to fish by 6:00pm

iii. Fishing Buddies do not fish. They assist the participants in Fishing.

iv. Feel free to bring some of your favorite flies to share.

                         v.  Any level of a fisherman/women can be a Fishing Buddy

All fishing buddies must sign a TU National Sexual Abuse Form.

If you are interested in volunteering as a fishing buddy for one of more evenings or during the week or just come to help our at the Trout Waters Camp during the day,

please contact our Camp Director, Bob Lindquist (631)790-5326 or email: jcnflies@charter.net

We are super excited to be offering a NY TU Trout Camp again this year.
